The School is coming along so well! Over the weekend, the painters started work on the outside, the three main classrooms were finished, plumbers prepared to install running water to the building, and workers started to repair the windows. The transformation from my visit on Wednesday to my return on Monday was amazing!
This is the classroom that had a big pile of cement in the centre in the earlier photo post. Already the walls are smoothed over and the classroom looks much brighter and cleaner!
Steven and this "Fundi" (worker) are showing off the new bathroom doors. This guy is about to start plastering the walls and preparing them to be tiled.
This photo looks like a huge mess... you're looking at the back side of the school where workers are finishing the exterior walls with a layer of cement and later, a layer of plaster. The junk that's pulled out on to the back porch has been emptied from the back 2 utility rooms so they can be finished as well. One of those rooms will function as a Teacher's office, while the other will be a supply room.

This Fundi has removed the old mesh wire and torn mosquito netting from the windows and he is painting the metal bars with a special paint which will prevent the bars from rusting. He'll also be painting the window frames with a brown color.

The plumbers dug this trench to bring running water from the one tap at the front edge of the property to the two children's toilets and one adult washroom at the back of the building. The school now has running water and proper plumbing!
Say goodbye to this dangerous old barbed wire fence - it was about to be removed to make way for the new chain-link fence!
